Conversations in Kitchen can be connected to email, allowing you to reply to messages and create new ones directly from your email provider.
Messages sent via email are marked with a small envelope icon in their header, indicating they were sent by email.
Replying to Messages via Email
When a message is sent in a conversation, users added to it receive an email notification, if enabled in their notification settings.
You can learn more about these settings in Notification Settings in Kitchen.
If a user replies to that email, their reply is automatically added as a new message in the conversation.
Note
To reply via email and have the message appear in the conversation, the user must have the Commenter role in that conversation.
Creating Messages via Email
You can also create new messages in a conversation directly via email, without replying to a notification.
Each conversation in Kitchen has its own unique email address. Any email sent to this address will appear as a message in the conversation.
To create a message via email:
Open the conversation
Click the settings (gear) button (top-right corner)
Select Create Messages via Email
Copy the conversation email address
Then, from your email provider, create a new email and paste that address as the recipient.
Once sent, the message will appear in the conversation in Kitchen.
If the email includes attachments, they will be added to the message and the conversation's Files tab, and can be used for feedback and collaboration.
If you want to learn more about file feedback in conversations, see Communicating via Conversations.
Note
Anyone with access to this email address can create messages in the conversation, even if they are not part of your workspace.
