In Kitchen, you can create additional task fields - global custom fields - that can be used across all boards in your workspace.
Below is an overview of where to create and manage them.
Where to Create and Manage Global Task Custom Fields
To create and manage your global task custom fields, go to Settings → Task Fields.
There, you’ll see a list of all global custom fields created for your workspace.
By default, fields are sorted chronologically based on when they were created.
You can also sort the list by:
name
client visibility
Clicking the selected sorting option again switches between ascending and descending order. To remove the sorting and return to the default chronological order, click the sorting option once more.
When hovering over a field row, you’ll also see additional action buttons:
Edit
Opens the edit window where you can:update the field name
change the client visibility setting
remove the field from the workspace
Remove
Removing the field deletes it from all boards in the workspace, including all assigned values.
Note
If the field is not visible to clients, they will not see it on task cards in the Kanban View nor in the task modal.
This setting can also be changed later.
Options for Creating Global Task Custom Fields
1. Creating Global Fields from Settings
Once you are in Settings → Task Fields, click the Create Custom Field button.
Then:
enter a name for the field
choose the field type
configure whether the field should be visible to clients
Once finished, click Save, and your global custom field will be ready to be added to boards.
To learn more about adding and managing fields inside tasks, see How to Add and Manage Fields in the Task Modal.
2. Creating Global Fields from the Task Modal
Global custom fields can also be created directly from the task modal. To do this, open any task card from a board to access the task modal.
Click the + Add a Field button.
From the New Field section, choose the field type. Then:
enter a field name
select an icon using the icon button next to the title text field. From there, you can:
Choose from the existing icons
Choose to hide or show the icon
Change the icon’s style (switch between outlined and filled styles)
choose a color for the field - either from the predefined colors or by using the advanced color settings through the three-dot menu
As you make changes, you’ll see them update in real time inside the preview window.
Once finished, click the visibility button at the bottom of the window, which is set to This Board Only by default, and change it to All Boards.
This makes the field global and automatically adds it to the list in Settings → Task Fields.
From the same visibility menu, you can also configure whether the field should be Visible to Clients.
