Boards: Grouping and Filtering in Table View

This guide explains how to use grouping and filtering in Table view to organize tasks and quickly find the information you need.

Written by Denitsa Zhelyazkova

In Table view, grouping and filtering tools help you organize tasks and focus on what matters most. You can group tasks based on different criteria and apply filters to narrow down results, making it easier to manage large sets of data efficiently.

Grouping Tasks

You can group tasks in Table view to better organize and analyze your data.

To use this option click the Group by button in the top-right corner

Available grouping options include:

  • None – tasks are displayed in the same order as in the Kanban view, based on list position (left to right) and task order (top to bottom)

  • List – tasks are grouped by their lists, following the same list order as in the Kanban view. Reordering lists in Kanban will reflect here as well

  • Label – tasks with labels appear at the top, while tasks without labels are shown below

  • Due Date – tasks with a due date appear at the top, followed by those without a due date

  • Member – unassigned tasks appear at the top, followed by groups for each member with their assigned tasks

When a grouping option is selected, the Group by button is highlighted in blue. If no grouping is applied (None), the highlight is removed.

Filtering Tasks

Filtering in Table view works the same way as in the Kanban and Calendar views, with one additional option to help you quickly find what you need.

Search Tasks

  • Start typing in the search bar to find tasks by title

  • Results appear instantly as you type

  • Click the X icon to clear the search input

Suggested Filters

Suggested filters allow you to instantly narrow down tasks based on common criteria. Available options include:

  • Assigned to me – tasks where you are a member

  • Due today – tasks with a due date set for today

  • Overdue – tasks with a due date in the past

  • Repeating – tasks with a repeating schedule set

  • Incomplete – all tasks that are not in the Done column

Lists Filter

You can also filter tasks by lists:

  • In the filter options, you will see all available lists in the board

  • Select one or more lists to display only the tasks within them

Members Filter

Members filter allows you to narrow down tasks based on assigned members. You can choose from the following options:

  • Each team member has a checkbox to filter tasks they are assigned to

  • Unassigned – shows tasks with no members assigned

Fields Filter

You can filter tasks based on specific fields:

  • Due Date. Available options include:

    • Today

    • This week

    • This month

    • Is past

    • Is empty

    • Custom (select a date from the calendar)

  • Start Date. Same filtering options as Due Date.

  • Label. Filter tasks by specific labels assigned to them.

  • Custom fields. All custom fields for the board will appear here.

You can reset all selected filters at any time using the Reset button in the filter menu at the top right, next to the X icon.
